CHAPTER 14 - Flexing Muscles

"Sizzle! Bad signal!"

The veins on Wu Lianyi's forehead twitched, she was hit with this trick again. She snorted coldly:

"Contact me immediately after redetermining the mission target! If the mission fails, it's also your fault. I am a primary taskmaster and I'm not qualified to take on third-level missions!"

"Understood! The communicator will actively protect the rights and interests of the task master and provide you with various supports to complete the mission!"

Wu Lianyi heard a trace of guilt in the other party's dull mechanical voice.

"Ability-users retreat!"

An order suddenly came from the rear. Sun Wang breathed a sigh of relief, he immediately raised his hand and grabbed Wu Lianyi's wrist, moved quickly, and successfully returned to the team.

After the ability-users withdrew, grenades flew over their heads, followed by explosions and severed limbs and body parts scattered everywhere. The number of zombies was decreasing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Wu Lianyi saw a team of soldiers in all-black combat uniforms who were throwing grenades one after another with precision. They were obviously a special operations team.

Her eyes flashed. If she remembered correctly, she had another mission, to assist in the evolution of the apocalypse. This kind of combat team was definitely someone she could cooperate with.

"Shoot!"

A loud voice rang out again.

It turned out that Captain Zhao's convoy which were left behind were once again surrounded by zombies. In order to avoid accidental injuries, the special operations team had to stop throwing bombs, because the previous bomb attack had already torn a hole for them, which was also indirectly helping them.

Gunshots rang out again, and rows of zombies fell down instantly. The green military truck immediately stepped on the accelerator, crushed the zombies in front, and rushed towards the defense line.

Unfortunately, there were too many zombies accumulated on the ground, and the military truck flipped over on its side. The whole car rolled around, crushing many zombies, and making the people who were responding sweat.

"How many people are there in the car?"

The team leader asked immediately.

"Captain Zhao and his vice-captain, and the six soldiers who were left behind, I'm afraid..."

Everyone around heard it, but as soon as the rolling military truck in front of them stopped, the zombies had already climbed onto the truck and began to pursue the flesh and blood they longed for.

The people in the back looked at the military truck that was almost submerged in the distance. Some people's eyes were red and everyone fell into silence.

"You gave up too early. Contact people first to see if they are still alive!"

Wu Lianyi said calmly.

These seemed to wake everyone up. One person immediately picked up the radio and started calling loudly:

"Captain Zhao, please reply when you hear this! This is the support team. How are you doing?"

The call was repeated three times. After five minutes of silence, a sporadic voice came from the other side.

"I'm Zhao Chonglin. The deputy captain and I are trapped in the cab. Zombies are trying to break the windows!"

Although they heard the reply, everyone's expressions became heavier because they knew that the rescue would be too difficult and it was impossible for them to sacrifice more people for two people.

Wu Lianyi nodded after hearing this, then tilted her head and spoke to the sharp-eyed captain of the special operations team.

"Do you have a motorcycle or a small vehicle? One that can turn flexibly and accelerate instantly?"

The man looked at Wu Lianyi with his eagle eyes, immediately understood her intention, and asked directly:

"Are you sure you can rescue both of them?"

"You won't know until you try! My little brother will help!"

Wu Lianyi pointed at Sun Wang, who was a little nervous.

The man glanced at the two of them, and finally waved behind him. A six-person team immediately separated and began to move.

In less than 5 minutes, a military jeep drove over, followed by a black three-wheeled motorcycle. Obviously, the car in front was responsible for restraining the zombies, and the three-wheeled motorcycle was responsible for short-distance sprinting.

"Let's go!"

Wu Lianyi got on the motorcycle calmly, and Sun Wang followed her like a wandering ghost.

"Sister Lianyi, what should I do?"

Sun Wang wanted to cry, he felt that Sister Lianyi thought too highly of him.

"Be good. Just follow my instructions and I promise to bring you back safe and sound."

Wu Lianyi said with a smile.

"Yes, I understand!"

Sun Wang swallowed his saliva and responded with a trembling voice.

The jeep in front swung its tail like a dragon, aiming the rear of the car at the group of zombies. The sound of gunfire continued. After an indiscriminate attack, another wave of zombies fell down. The motorcycle took the opportunity to sprint, and got closer to the people who needed rescue.

Wu Lianyi said directly to Sun Wang: "Take me to the side of the military truck."

"Ah? Yes, okay!"

"Follow me closely and ensure your own safety. Leave the rest to me. If your ability is exhausted, tell me in advance!"

Wu Lianyi glanced over, and Sun Wang nodded immediately.

As soon as the gunfire stopped, Sun Wang immediately grabbed Wu Lianyi's wrist and disappeared from the motorcycle.

The next moment, the two of them arrived at the side of the overturned military truck. Because of their sudden appearance, they instantly attracted the zombies who had already broken the car window.

Wu Lianyi had already drawn out her Lei Yao, channeled her supernatural ability into it, and then swung her sword horizontally, directly sweeping down a group of zombies. Taking advantage of the gap between the zombies falling, she simply and roughly grabbed the front bumper of the military truck and threw it directly to the back.

Under everyone's surprised gaze, the huge military truck flew towards them.

"Stand back!!"

Someone shouted immediately.

Wu Lianyi quickly pulled Sun Wang, who had killed a zombie, and said almost at the same time:
"Go back!"

Sun Wang didn't even look back. As soon as he received the order, he activated his ability and broke out of the zombie encirclement in an instant.

When the two reappeared on the motorcycle, the motorcycle immediately turned back, while the thrown military truck was about to land.

Wu Lianyi glanced at Sun Wang, whose face was already a little pale, and continued to pressure him.

"Send me to where the military truck fell! Quick!"

Sun Wang gritted his teeth and grabbed Wu Lianyi again and teleported to the place where the military truck fell, then he collapsed to the ground, exhausted.

Wu Lianyi jumped lightly, held the military truck with one hand, and threw it lightly again, turning it over and shaking off the zombies clinging to the truck. Then she gently put it down, and then said to the stunned people:

"What are you standing there for? Save people!"

Zhao Chonglin and his deputy captain, who experienced a roller coaster rotation, and the four soldiers who persisted until the end, climbed out of the cab and the back of the truck themselves.

The entire rescue process only took less than fifteen minutes, but it amazed everyone, especially the captain of the special operations team who only showed a pair of eagle eyes. The people he sent out only drove the jeep and motorcycle back at this time.

"I'm Ying Yi. Thank you for your help. I hope we have the opportunity to work together again."

The man's deep voice reached Lianyi's ears. She nodded and stretched out her hand:

"I'm Wu Lianyi!"
