QT: Have Grievances? CAWHYC-Ch8

CHAPTER 8 - Hoarding the Goods

The residents on both sides of the alley also noticed the difference tonight and peeked out through the curtains secretly. After seeing Lianyi bravely killing zombies, they opened their mouths in shock, but no one was willing to lend a helping hand.

Television, radio, and social media all relayed messages saying that this was a virus attack, asking everyone to stay at home and not to go out at will. Once the cause is found out, the public will be notified.

Everyone was waiting slowly in anxiety and fear. On the third day of the apocalypse, everyone still had food at home and could hold on for a while, so watching Wu Lianyi was like watching a murderous maniac.

Just when Wu Lianyi's kitchen knife was getting a little warped, she finally arrived at the shopping mall. As she expected, the door of the mall was closed.

Only the small shops on one side of the entrance were destroyed. The row of seven small shops were all selling snacks and were built next to the outside of the main floor.

Wu Lianyi looked at another wave of zombies coming over and placed the warped kitchen knife into the hiking bag, actually putting it into the space. She then decisively stepped on the isolation pier in front of the mall gate, jumped to the roof of the small store, then jumped again, grabbing the window edge of the floor-to-ceiling glass on the second floor.

She stepped on the uneven wall with her right foot, then exerted a little force to put her elbows on the edge of the window. She then took out the warped kitchen knife from her backpack and hit the floor-to-ceiling glass with the knife handle.

"Thunk!" The sound of the window glass being hit spread very far in the silent night and attracted more attention. Wu Lianyi had excellent hearing and when she hit the glass a second time with all her strength, she heard a cracking sound.

She immediately stopped hitting the glass, moved to the corner of the floor-to-ceiling window, and then used all her strength to throw the kitchen knife directly towards the crack. "Crash!" The glass completely shattered, and the broken glass fell and pierced into the heads of the zombies lingering below, instantly eliminating two zombies.

As soon as the glass broke, Wu Lianyi immediately hooked her left foot on the window edge, then slowly pushed herself inside.

Suddenly, a blue face approached Lianyi. She could smell the putrid smell on the other person's body after breaking the glass. Moreover, the middle-aged man was wearing a security uniform, and was obviously someone who stayed on night shift. He seemed to have been wandering here since becoming a zombie and must not have eaten anything.

Lianyi had a cold face. When the other party's fangs approached her neck, she used her left foot and right hand to fix herself on the window edge. Then she grabbed the other party's neck with her left hand and deftly pulled the him out and threw him down into the group of wandering zombies below.

With a "thwack" sound, the security zombie knocked down four or five zombies with outstretched claws. After completing it's mission, it completely died.

Lianyi then climbed into the mall then dragged over two sections of counters from the side and blocked the broken glass. She did not rush to loot things, but listened carefully for a while. After making sure that there were no other zombies or people inside, she started taking action.

The first place she went to was the large supermarket on the basement floor. There was a complete range of goods here and they were all daily consumables and necessities. Wu Lianyi did not hesitate and directly put the shelves into the space. These things were placed in rows in the black area.

The produce section, the meat section, the non-staple food section, the wine section, and the daily chemical products section--everything she could see was collected by her. Then she went to the first floor where the gold and silver jewelry and high-end cosmetics were, and collected them all.

Then came the women's clothing area on the second floor. Although it's summer now, Lianyi wasn't picky and collected everything. The bags on the third floor, men's clothing on the fourth floor, home appliances on the fifth floor, household items on the sixth floor, sports items on the seventh floor, the food floors on the eighth floor--she didn't miss any of them.

The most important thing was that she saw a long sword hanging on the wall on display in the member center office in the corner of the seventh floor. The moment she unsheathed the sword, she showed a sincere smile.

This is her natal sword and it came to this apocalyptic world with her. This is the benefit that she had spent a long time negotiating for for herself with those group of people in black suits, and the only physical object that she can bring into the mission world.

"Lei Yao, old friend, we meet again!"

Lianyi smiled and performed a sword flower. A cold light flashed across the sword as if responding to her words and a slight humming sound resonated indicating its good mood.

Wu Lianyi felt that all the supplies in the entire building cannot compare to her sword. This was a sharp weapon that matched her spiritual roots and was easier to use than a deformed kitchen knife.

She sank her consciousness into the space and found that the black space was already half filled. With these things as a foundation, she felt more at ease. She was not going to take away the things in the warehouse, but left them to the people nearby. One should not be too drastic in everything.

Next, she wanted to get more weapons and a vehicle for transportation which should be available in the mall's underground parking lot.

Holding the sword in her hand, Lianyi walked directly down the stairs. When she arrived at the underground parking lot, she heard the unique "wheezing" sound of zombies, as well as the woman's scolding, and a man's exclamations.

Lianyi immediately gripped the sword in her hand and moved quietly, following the sound.

She happened to see a man and a woman being besieged by zombies. The woman was waving a wooden stick in front of her, while the man was hiding behind the woman, screaming from time to time, causing the zombies to pursue them even more closely.

The corner of Wu Lianyi's mouth twitched when she saw it. The rise of yin and the decline of yang is really not just talk1.

She couldn't bear to watch it, so she drew out her Lei Yao and rushed forward. With one smooth move, she chopped off the heads of two zombies from behind and also became the target of the zombies. Three zombies immediately surrounded her. After dealing with the three zombies in a few moves, she happened to see the woman across from her stabbing a zombie into the head with the wooden stick.

However, the claws of another zombie were about to grab the woman's arm. The man hiding behind the woman screamed, grabbed the woman's waist, and flashed away. The two were already ten meters away, just in time to avoid the zombie attack.

"Speed ability!"

Wu Lianyi originally wanted to nip the crisis in the bud before these two people attracted more zombies, then find a means of transportation. But she surprisingly found an unexpected gain.

The two successfully avoided the claws of the last zombie, but the zombie that lost its target rushed towards Lianyi.

"You..."

Before the woman could finish her words, she was interrupted by Lianyi's backhand slash, killing the last zombie.

There was not even a trace of blood on Lianyi's obsidian sword making the man and woman across from her look envious. If they had such powerful weapon, they wouldn't be besieged by a few zombies.

Lianyi glanced around and spotted an SUV with a high chassis. The door was still half-open and there were blood stains on the side of the car. The owner had probably turned into a zombie. Her eyes lit up and she walked over it immediately.

The man and woman seemed to have the same goal as her and also walked towards the black SUV.

Lianyi raised her eyebrows and glanced at the other party, who seemed to have noticed the problem as well.

1 Yin and Yang: an ancient Chinese symbol that shows a balance between two opposites. Yin is the feminine life force of receptivity, while yang is the masculine force of action.
